this is a why-and-how i have been going so crazy about an Indonesian female author: Sitta Karina, and how her writings have been musings of mine for all this time.
that day, i was walking down the boulevard of Gadjah Mada University in a sunny morning, apparently at 10. on the previous days, i had always walked down the road, and noticed an old-books stall by the roadside. it was a kind of newsstand which sold old books and magazines - and i liked it. i mean, i am always that kind of person who loves antiques and vintage thingy.
usually, i would only pass the book stall and just go away. look, even though i liked it, but at that time i just didn't feel like i wanted to stop and take a look, or even buy some of them. it was mostly because when passing that road almost every day, i actually had just got back from library, such as UPT 1 or American Corner. so, simply, i thought that i was already full of readings, so i didn't think i needed more.
teen magazines.
very interesting! i grew up reading famous kids magazine entitled Bobo, and never thought that someday i would be interested in reading any other magazines (the other one is National Geographic) when i got older.
this was different. i mean, the sudden feeling of excitement was extraordinarily amazing. i gotta give myself chances to new things that seemed intriquely fascinating. so, after a while looking at the cover, then i decided to buy it. Cosmogirl Indonesia. i went home to my dormitory with a happy heart. something new was always suprisingly pleasing.
i liked Cosmogirl Indonesia despite the fact that i was just too old to read such a teen magz. Cosmogirl Indonesia was a vibrantly young-aged magazine. the content was great. one of my favorites was short story section. i noticed a bright author named Sitta Karina Rahmidiharja firstly from Cosmogirl Indonesia. just like falling at the very first sight, i was into her stories helplessly. stories about the Hanafiahs, fantasy-fictions, or the global warming issues were among those incredible pieces of her writings. awesomely inspiring and amusing.
from then, Sitta Karina is my favorite Indonesian author. for me, it is a record, an achievement, since i have always been a very picky type of person - moreover, when it comes to something Indonesian. i bought some of her limited-edition novels - and have been looking forward to completing the whole series of her writings. through her masterpieces, i open my mind even more into perspectives which have never crossed my mind before. they also help me live my dreams, strengthen my emotional quotient, and build my character uniquely contradictory, even stronger.
reading her novels, i am always amazed by her choices of words, sentences by sentences. smartly written. also, her ideas are just splendid. the way she opened the story is always naturally awesome, and the way she ended the story is also superb. she mostly writes about daily life, but it is not simply ordinary. it is always special. she made it so. just brilliant.
and i love it very much when she names the characters of her stories. such adorable names! a mixed-culture name is never heard that nice - and it is nice when Sitta Karina creates it. for someone like me, who dislikes my own name without a truthful reason, it is intriquing that name is somehow a cool thing - simply important. Sitta Karina just made it even cooler.
she rocks!
